Ant House

Yes!! These are Ant Houses :)
If you look closely, you can see the red ants in the photos.....
I didn't dare go too near and click photos since these ants were moving about anywhere and everywhere....
And if you get a teeny weeny bite from them you will not forget them for a loong time....
In the Malenadu region of Karnataka, some tribes of people make a chutney of these ants with chillies, salt and lemon and eat them. They believe that these are good for health.....

Wild and Pink...

These belong to the ginger and turmeric plant family.....
I do not know the exact name but it is a wild flower which grows in the Malenadu region of Karnataka during the late summer and rainy season......You will not find these plants throughout the year. After the first rain, you can find small  sprouts from the ground everywhere........
If anybody know the name and more information pleas do let me know :)

Pigeon and her egg

One fine morning we found this lovely lady in our balcony....
She was scared lot and was not able to fly.....
She started roaming around the house and I enjoyed her company very much :)
Late in the evening, she went under the small table and after a few minutes we found an egg under the table !!!!!
Imagine our joy, surprise and what not :D
She stayed there until the next day.
The next day she flew off leaving her egg behind....
I kept the egg outside in our balcony and tried to lure her with grains and water and what not....But I couldn't...
The other problem was I couldn't identify her from the rest of the pigeons :(
So here ends the tale of the lady pigeon and her egg who is still there waiting .......

Belur Trip 2

These are a few more photos  taken in Belur.
Do check out the detailed carving and the metal like finishing on the sculptures. This was the speciality of the Hoysalas . The  most famous Hoysala architecture found in Karnataka are in Belur, Halebeedu and Somanathapura. About all these places I will post in the next few posts
